This shotgun belonged to A.P. Bigelow, one of the famous “4B’s” trap shooting team and Matt Browning’s maternal grandfather. It was his favorite shotgun until the Browning Superposed was manufactured beginning in 1931.
A.P. Bigelow (1867–1942) was a member of the 4B’s trap team composed of Gus Becker, John M. Browning, A. P. Bigelow, and Matthew S. Browning. Their team competed in tournaments and competitions shooting live birds and trap shot; they were undefeated. Bigelow was also president of Utah State Taxpayer’s association, president and director of the Ogden State bank, and founder of the Hotel Bigelow (later Ben Lomond hotel) in Ogden, Utah.
